it's almost 6pm here, comic to be uploaded in 3 hours... haven't started work on it yet... ah well, it'll be up on time.
Today, watched football on TV, seems to be the manly thing to do, and watched the local team give up a chance at winning. *sigh* bad time to be a sports fan in Phoenix at the moment, Cardinals down to 1-5, Diamondbacks just finished up a lousy season, and Coyotes... nobody even knows what the Coyotes starting line up is. To be honest, there's nothing quite as silly as an Ice Hockey team in Phoenix.
Luckily at least... just three weeks until Basketball season starts up, I have season tickets for the Suns this year
And that is your daily blurb! _________________ Your lord and master! |

The October schedule in up, at least temporarily, and maybe someone can post the link. Buster Keaton is Star of the Month. Great idea. As lzcutter will tell you, dont miss THE CAMERAMAN, which was a big hit at the TCM Festival. Theres also a tribute to Nicholas Ray, most of whose films will be shown, although not The Savage Innocents. This will be a great opportunity to fill in the gaps with some of the less available titles. Bet there will be lots of discussion in October around these parts. Im guessing BIGGER THAN LIFE will be in the gorgeous restored version shown at the festival.
Oops, GaryJ may not be thrilled by the Zachary Scott tribute, but THE MASK OF DIMITRIOS will be shown, so maybe thats OK by him, too. As a fan of Jean Negulescos early films, Im looking forward to seeing this one for the first time. Theres also a tribute to Nina Foch, including ChiOs fave MY NAME IS JULIA ROSS. Zachapalooza and Fochapalooza the same month
Oct. 11 has CROSSFIRE, ACT OF VIOLENCE, THE SET-UP, and BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK back to back, which will put some great noir in your life. Oct. 19 has less familiar noir with THE BURGLAR, NIGHT EDITOR, TIGHT SPOT, SHOCKPROOF, THE MOB, THE NIGHT HOLDS TERROR, and NIGHTFALL. Oct. 13 has LES PORTES DE LA NUIT and THE WAGES OF FEAR as a double feature. Three versions of THE THREE MUSKETEERS will be shown back to back on Oct. 14, a cool idea. Oct. 15 plunges us into neorealism with THE BICYCLE THIEF, BITTER RICE, LA STRADA, OPEN CITY, and MAMMA ROMA. Miss Marple turns up, as does Hildegarde Withers, and there are a number of horror films. The month concludes with THE INNOCENTS, THE HAUNTING 1963, and REPULSION. Yes, there are plenty of musicals and comedies, too.
Among the films on my wanna-see list are PATHS OF GLORY and THE SEVENTH VICTIM. |
